Obituary

Rod Towse

Rod Towse 1947-2024

Rod was born on 12th August 1947.and passed away on 12th August 2024.

Rod was born in Sheffield and was educated at Tapton Secondary School in Sheffield and later studied Geology at the University of Hull.

After a 22 year career as an Electronics Technician in the RAF, he worked as the Highways Events Officer for the East Riding of Yorkshire County Council until his retirement in 2023.

Rod joined the Hull Geological Society in July 2007 and was the Treasurer of the Society from 2014 until 7th May 2024 when he resigned due to ill health. Rod also was an active member in the Society's research Groups - the Bisat Project, the Flamborough Quaternary Research Project and various shorter projects.

Tony Felski - Over the years Rod and myself had some great outings, some geological, some not. He will be greatly missed.

Dennis Haughey - He was a great guy

Angela Hodgeson - .What a loss to so many friends. Very sad news indeed. A lovely, gentle man - now another bright star in our skies.  RIP Rod. Fond memories.

Mike Horne - Rod was a true friend.

Mary Howard - How very sad. Rod was such a kind and encouraging person. I shall remember him and his family in my thoughts.
