Note all sites are best visited on a falling tide. For some the tide is critical either to view the site or to avoid getting stranded. You are recommended to wear a hard hat when examining cliffs.

South Landing

Conservation status – SSSI

Parking – at South Landing

Facilities – visitor centre with toilets

Access – steep tarmac road to beach.

Beach – sand, pebbles, boulders and wave cut platform

Hazards – wave cut platform can be slippery.

Escape routes – Danes Dyke or climb a rockfall and wait for tide to fall

Safety and PPE – hard hat and sensible clothes. Sensible footwear.

Geological highlights – Flamborough formation, faulting and folding may be exposed at low tide, pre-glacial valley fill, glacial till, erratics, sink hole.

Other interests there or nearby – remains of old harbour at South Landing; a life boat station and an information centre.
