Note all sites are best visited on a falling tide. For some the tide is critical either to view the site or to avoid getting stranded. You are recommended to wear a hard hat when examining cliffs.

Filey Brigg

Summary -

Conservation status -

Parking – large cliff top car park fee charged

Facilities – public toilets at car park

Access – tarmac road to beach (not too steep)

Beach – sand, gravel and wave cut platform

Hazards – wave cut platform slippery when wet

Escape routes – there was a fisherman’s ladder at the end of the Birgg

Safety and PPE – hard hat and sensible clothes. Sensible grippy footwear.

Geological highlights – Jurassic oolites overlain by boulder clay. Large boulders with impressive trace fossils.
