Note all sites are best visited on a falling tide. For some the tide is critical either to view the site or to avoid getting stranded. You are recommended to wear a hard hat when examining cliffs.

Summary -

South Landing to Green Stacks

Conservation status - SSSI

Parking – at South Landing

Facilities – visitor centre with toilets

Access – steep tarmac to beach.

Walking distance – about 3 Km

Beach – sand, pebbles, boulders and wave cut platform

Hazards – wave cut platform can be slippery. Do not attempt to go to Green Stacks if the wave cut platform is covered with sea weed: it is a long walk and there is no escape route at all.

Escape routes - none

Safety and PPE – hard hat and sensible clothes. Sensible footwear.

Geological highlights – basal beds of the Flamborough Formation

Other interests there or nearby – remains of old harbour at South Landing
