Sewerby buried cliff,

Measurements of the sequence 26/10/2007 By Anne Horne, Mike Horne & Stuart Jones.

 

Measurements taken moving away from the edge of the buried cliff, going towards Bridlington.  Note no horizontal level taken,

 

Definitions -

Chalk - solid in-situ chalk.

Chalk pebbles - rounded pebbles of chalk, some bored by piddocks; plus some erratics, including grey flint. A raised beach deposit.

Chalk rubble - medium and large angular fragments of chalk - scree-like deposit.

Chalk gravel - fine to medium sub-angular and sub-rounded clasts of chalk - a Chalk Wash or solifluction deposit.
