Sewerby section 13 Oct 2007 observed by Mike Horne and Stuart Jones.

Estimated measurements for a very clear section exposed 2 weeks before.

From left (Bridlington end) to right (edge of the ancient cliff) -

76 paces - fine chalky gravel, ca 1 m thick at left and 3m thick at right, cross-bedded  towards left.

21 paces - no exposure

18 paces - sand exposed behind remains of old pill box (previously exposed)

42 paces - no exposure

19 paces - new exposure of ca 2m thick chalk beach cobbles, many bored by piddocks, with very few erratics of yellow quartz; overlain by 1.5 m of sand; overlain by 3m fine chalky gravels.

2 paces -  no exposure

7 paces - sand (perhaps with some beach cobbles at base - needs a bit of digging and closer inspection)

23 paces - no exposure

19 paces - sand

12 paces - the classic buried cliff/raised beach sequence.

(one pace is about 3 feet - but for accuracy compare this with previous measurements from the cliff to the pill box)
