Anne Horne and Barrie Heaton provided the cakes for the afternoon tea. David Hill proposed a vote of thanks to the speakers and the organisers of the meeting.

At the event the prizes were awarded for the "Aesthetics of Geology" photographic competition. Sixty photographs had been entered and a panel of judges (Alison Field and David and Jean Hill) selected the ones that are on display and awarded prizes. Fraser Briggs and Matt Hopper, the curators of the display, also selected one photograph for a prize and the delegates at the meeting voted to select the winners of the "peoples' prizes".
