Specimen shown is actually 3 inch wide, and found in sand stone. Specimen originaly one large lump of sandstone whith just a hint of shell exposed, has been heavilly cleaned to show well preserved fossils.

Identification can be obtained by the shape of shell, and muscle marks on the inside. Species can be used for zoning, to help identify a specific location and specific time.
