Fossil shown is 2.5 inches in length and found on a chalk foot path in North Yorkshire .

Chalk fossils of this size are rare, chalk is purely made up of deep sea microscopic plankton. Identification again can be obtained in part via shape and style of ribbing on the shell.

Being made from chalk dating this fossil is made easier, English chalk is dated to the Late Cretaceous.
