Type of meeting :- Club Night and Members - Evenings for Members and Guests

 

Booking Requirements:

Normally hosted by the University of Hull- room must be booked in advance.

Disabled access to ground floor is good. Disabled toilet is on first floor.

 

ALL PEOPLE TAKE PART AT THEIR OWN RISK - we do have liability insurance but NO accident insurance! Young people (under 18) should be accompanied by a responsible adult

Electric hazards on equipment used

It is assumed that the hosts have carried out the necessary PAT tests. Do not use if you notice the test is out of date or if there is any obvious damage to the equipment or wiring.

Fire

Please remind people present about the fire exits and evacuation procedure; especially if there are new members or guests present.

The organiser must inform Security that we are in the building and when we will leave.

Heavy lifting of geological specimens

low

Remind members not to ask for help if moving heavy boxes of geological specimens

Risk of burns when using acid to test specimens for carbonate content.

Use only dilute acid. Store the acid securely, preferably in a double container (e.g. a dropper bottle kept in a sealable plastic box or bag). Wash off any excess acid after testing or id water not available dry with a paper towel and dispose of the towel with extra care.
