The University of Hull closed the Centre for Lifelong Learning on 31st July 2012. The following message appeared on the CLL website with information for continuing students:-

"The University is developing a new approach to the provision of lifelong learning which will focus on the delivery of a range of learning options. Faculties and Departments will offer opportunities for lifelong learning though public engagement activities, outreach activities and programmes, and short courses and CPD for business that will enable people in the region to learn from the internationally excellent research undertaken by University of Hull staff. These activities will be supported and promoted by central administrative units serving the whole University. "

"A new programme of lifelong learning activities and events is being developed in collaboration with all Faculties across the University over the coming months and this programme will provide members of the local community and our previous students with the opportunity to engage with the University in interesting ways through open seminars, public lectures, festivals and a range of interesting and innovative activities...

"The Centre for Lifelong Learning has made a huge contribution to widening access and opening university-level learning opportunities for adult learners throughout the Humber and Scarborough region for over 50 years. A significant number of committed part-time staff have delivered a wide range of subjects and many former students attest to the transformative power of the courses that they have undertaken on both campuses. The commitment and drive of these staff and students has helped to establish a firm base upon which to build a new University-wide approach to lifelong learning, designed to fit the needs of local adult learners as they move forward."
