general : anterior, posterior, dorsal, ventral, right, left, ornament, growth lines, ribs/ribbing.

Bivalves: Valve, umbo, ligament, ligament pit, muscle scars, teeth, pallial line, pallial sinus, gape.

Ammonites: chambers, body chamber, suture, septa, aptychus, aperture, keel, involute, evolute, lappet, siphuncle.

Belemnites: guard, alveolus, phragmacone.

Gastropods: aperture, spire, apex, whorl, callus, columnella, exhalent slit, operculum, siphonal canal, umbilicus, suture.

Brachiopods: pedicle, brachia, pedicle valve, brachial valve, muscle scar, umbo.

Echinoids: (sea urchins): test, tube feet, ambulacra, interambulacra, spines, boss, regular, irregular, apical system.

Crinoids: (sea lilies): stem, ‘root’, arms, ossicle, calyx.

Corals: calyx, epitheca, septum, tabulae, solitary, massive, colonial, dissepiments, columnella.

Sponges: spicule, osculum, canals, stem, 'root'.
